St. Elmo’s Fire (Man in Motion) by John Parr was released on June 23, 1985, with One Love by David Foster as the B side. It was a single from the St. Elmo’s Fire soundtrack.

man in motionThe song was a No. 1 hit in the United States and Canada. In Parr’s native United Kingdom, it peaked at No. 6.

The song was originally written by Parr and David FosterĀ for Canadian athlete Rick Hansen, who at the time was going around the world in his wheelchair to raise awareness for spinal cord injuries. His journey was called the “Man in Motion Tour.”
